personality. Despite being from the Void, Orion is unlike most of his kin. He's genuine, polite and helpful to most strangers he meets. He views each person as unique, with their on story to tell and he's eager to hear all of them.In public, he's considerate and polite, gentlemanly in nature to most everyone he encounters. He's quick to compliment, picking out things he sees that are of interest to him, whether it be a passing comment or a look in a person's eyes.In private, he's willing to show a bit more of a mischievous side. He has a dry sense of humour that comes with a royal upbringing but it can be endearing, especially when he isn't familiar with more 'commoner fare' as he calls it.
the beginning.
Orion was born as the eldest prince of Iscaria, a small kingdom by the sea in the Thirteenth Shard that was beset by misfortune. Though his mother said he was a gift from the stars above, his father saw an opportunity in his son, born a powerful seer. Orion was able to predict every disaster, every problem the kingdom would face and each one was counteracted. The kingdom prospered through the many prophecies that were given to them by the starlit child.But one day, Orion woke to a vision: that the star would be overcome by a flood of darkness. The kingdom surged into action, seeking the source of it or a way to combat it. But no matter how much they fought, how much the searched, they found nothing. The darkness only grew worse and worse.Enraged, both the people and his father demanded Orion foresee a better future for them, as though he was in control of their fates. But no matter how hard he tried, nothing changed. The flood remained. In his anger, the king locked his heir away in a dungeon where even moonlight would not reach, telling him he would be freed if he saved them.For one year, he remained in captivity, desperately trying to accomplish his father's will but to no avail. Finally, as the darkness began to creep along the edges of Iscaria, a voice whispered tales of freedom to him. After the betrayal and the torture, Orion could only accept this one offering of the only kindness he'd received in recent memory.That decision led to the downfall of Iscaria. Orion broke free of his prison, now no longer a mortal but a fully fledged voidsent, in service to the Cloud of Darkness. He destroyed the kingdom's gates, letting in the flood of monsters before heading to the palace where he learned his younger brother had been beheaded that very day. In his rage, he beheaded the king before ravaging the rest of the land.
to now.
With the Thirteenth fully having transformed, Orion found himself in the service of the Cloud of Darkness and her domain for many centuries. He lost himself in the violence, in the conquering of other lands at her behest. Eventually, though, there was nothing left to seize and he was provided with a land of his own, a domain for him to raise under her banner.It was there that he began rebuilding parts of Iscaria. There was no going to back to what once was but he did what he could to find those remaining citizens, now voidsent, and gather them under his banner. From there, though he still was a servant of the Mother Cloud, he formed a kingdom of his own, shifting from cruel tyrant to a more benevolent ruler.He expanded his territory but was mindful of his reach, aided by his nightkin Fang and Talon. From there, more joined his ranks and over the years, some left to lead lives of their own. Each time, Orion would send them off with a promise that there would be a home for them with him, should they ever need it.Nowadays, he spends much of his time with his current nightkin and other individuals he's met on the Source. His court proceeds as per usual, with their input along with his consort's guiding hand, maintaining their boundaries and aiding their allies.Orion still ventures to the Source quite often. He finds value in the people there, in learning the things they have to teach as well as exploring new places.
